SEPTEMBER 2003 XANALOG Corporation, a leading supplier of integrated hardware and software systems designed for control-system testing, announced the AGCS as the latest addition to its COTS real-time, hardware-in-the-loop simulation products.
Its compact desktop-size package has been ruggedized, EMI-quieted and qualified for shipboard operation. NAVAIR is testing aircraft gyro-related systems inland-based CASS stations and will deploy them in seagoing vessels. The Intel Pentium-based AGCS is configured with A/Ds, D/As, synchro-to-digital and digital-to-synchro converters and other real-time I/O. Controller and real-time-system operations are programmed with NL-SIM, XANALOG’s mouse-and-icon programmed block-diagram language. Hard real-time update rates of up to 10 kHz are achieved under the Microsoft Windows environment.
The following functions are performed by the AGCS on gyro-related Units Under Test (UUTs):
* Gimbal system closed-loop testing and measurements * Synchro and analog signal generation to gyro/gimbal systems * Synchro and analog signal measurements from gyro/gimbal systems
These are carried out with the AGCS simultaneously stabilizing the gyro dynamics, applying probe signal and acquiring the response and analyzing the results.
"Our first application for this ruggedized Control System Test Equipment (which we refer to as CSTE) is the testing of gyro/gimbal systems and we believe this system will be used for a wide variety of other dynamic systems." said Robert Davison, XANALOG’s sales director. Over the years, we have installed units in developmen
t labs for testing missile autopilots, jet-engine controllers, satellite-attitude controllers, anti-skid-breaking-controllers and other aerospace and automotive systems. With the availability of ruggedized units, it will now be possible to carry out real-time, hardware-in-the-loop testing in the field where the environment is much more demanding."
AGCS is available in development configurations for laboratory use and ruggedized configurations for field use, XANALOG provides training, applications support and TPS writing services.
About XANALOG Founded in 1986, XANALOG delivers ready-to-use, integrated hardware and software systems designed for control-system-testing using real-time, hardware-in-the-loop simulation. XANALOG’s full support of its products is based on 17 years of delivering graphically programmed, real-time simulation tools. Customers validating the performance of their embedded controllers depend on XANALOG’s products to catch design flaws early in the development process resulting in the reduction of development costs and increased on-time product delivery.
